Health & Physical Education

Health and Physical Education has a direct contribution to good health and overall wellbeing of students in their physical, emotional, social and spiritual selves.
Our Health and Physical Education curriculum is delivered from Year 7 through to Year 12 and aligns with the Victorian Curriculum Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). Students in Years 7 to 9 participate in core Health and PE programs that encompass both practical and theory opportunities.
Students in Years 8 and 9 are provided further opportunities via electives that are designed to cater for student’s specific interests and abilities and to extend their love of physical education.
Students in Year 9 are also involved in an Outdoor Education camp designed to get them active in the outdoors and foster team building with their peers.
Students in Year 10 can undertake Health and Physical Education or Sports Science with increased opportunities to individualise their learning program. Year 10 students may also elect to accelerate into any of our VCE/VET offerings, including VCE Health and Human Development, VCE Outdoor Education, VCE Physical Education, VET Certificate II Outdoor Recreation and VET Certificate III Sport & Recreation.
St. Joseph’s College offers students access to many Health and Physical Education spaces, both within the grounds and throughout the Echuca/Moama region. Dedicated Health and PE facilities at our school include indoor and undercover courts with specialized fitness equipment. We also have community partnerships including use of and access to ovals, tennis courts, gymnasiums, indoor pools and athletics fields.
