Students, teachers and families from St Joseph’s College Echuca are celebrating some of the highest VCE scores ever achieved at the school after results were released this morning.
DUX of the College for 2023 is Jack Anderson with an incredible score of 98. Jack, who was one of the 2023 College Captains, has always been a talented student and will take up a traineeship at the school next year before heading to Monash University to study Engineering in 2025.
Four other students from the College joined Jack with scores higher than 90 - Chloe Villani (95.6), Morgan Bingham (93.3), Mary Green (93.15) and Isabella Ferguson (90.85).

Of the 87 students to receive an ATAR this year, 66 students achieved a score higher than 50, an increase of 7.8% compared to the 5 year average.
St Joseph’s College Principal Anne Marie Cairns said the outstanding results had been met with great excitement and pride by all.
Ms Cairns congratulated the entire year level for their tenacity, including 106 students who successfully completed their VCE and 10 students who successfully completed VCE-VM.
“I am incredibly proud of the way these students have responded to the many challenges they have faced throughout their secondary school journey with strength, courage and commitment.”
Off the back of being announced the winner of The Age’s 2022 Schools that Excel category for non-government schools in rural and regional Victoria last year, Ms Cairns said the 2023 VCE results were further evidence of the school’s commitment to continuous improvement.
“These results are testament to the hard-working teachers, leadership team, students and families involved with St Joseph’s over many years, and ones which we can all be very proud of,” she said.
In other result highlights for the College, Morgan Bingham achieved an almost perfect study score of 49 in English and Jai Milligan achieved a 45 in Foundation Maths which was a new subject in 2023.
In total, 14 students received a study score greater than 40 in individual subjects including:
Anastasia McLindon - (40) Health and Human Development

“These individuals, along with their fellow students, have applied themselves to their studies with diligence and commitment throughout the 2023 academic year,” Ms Cairns said.
“It is pleasing to see their efforts reflected in such good results and to know that they can look back over their year’s work with satisfaction.”
Ms Cairns said a number of students who had chosen not to go to university had already begun working, and others had commenced apprenticeships.
Of the 87 students receiving an ATAR, 42 students will receive a guaranteed first round offer with a further 20 most likely to receive an offer in the areas they had chosen.
“Year 12 is a big event in the lives of our students and their families, that often carries extra pressure and expectation, and it takes a village to support our students through the highs and lows of the year,” Ms Cairns said.
“As we celebrate and rejoice in these wonderful achievements by our 2023 Year 12 group, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students, teachers, parents and carers for the important role they have played, and for working so hard together this year.”
