Careers & Pathways

Every student has access to a relevant, inspiring and engaging learning pathway.

At St Joseph’s College, we are dedicated to providing every student with a personalised, inspiring, and engaging learning journey. We understand that each student is unique, with distinct needs and aspirations, and we offer a diverse range of educational pathways to cater to them.

Careers & Pathways

Our options include the traditional Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the innovative VCE Vocational Major, the Victorian Pathways Certificate, Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, and the Vocational Minor through our Year 10 Applied Learning Program. Additionally, we facilitate School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, allowing students to embark on a learning program tailored precisely to their goals.

We take immense pride in offering a wide array of VET courses that prepare students for careers in various fields such as health, the sports industry, public safety, music, trades, and engineering. Our Health program, proudly supported by Echuca Regional Health, has paved the way for graduates to pursue careers as teachers, physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, paramedics, sound technicians, and civil and mechanical engineers.

Work-Related Skills are at the core of our Applied Learning Program, empowering students with a comprehensive understanding of workplace environments and the future of work and education. Through theoretical and practical planning, students develop skills crucial for a successful transition into their chosen pathways. This includes creating a personal portfolio, crafting resumes, honing job application, interview, and presentation skills, and applying acquired knowledge within the classroom and through Structured Workplace Learning (SWL).

We prioritise career development, viewing it as an integral aspect of life development at St Joseph’s College. Our commitment is to support every student in thriving and striving toward their goals, ensuring they have access to tailored, inspiring, and engaging learning journeys nurtured within a culture of faith.

Our comprehensive careers program encompasses various initiatives. In Year 9 and 10, students participate in the Beacon Program, collaborating with local businesses to build resumes, engage in mock interviews, and gain industry exposure through the Beacon Careers Expo. Year 10 students also partake in our annual work experience program, followed by a three-day career immersion experience in Melbourne, where they stay in university accommodation and attend workshops tailored to university and TAFE courses.

To further assist our students in selecting their Senior School pathways, we provide extensive subject selection guidance and careers counselling.
